Data Recovery Service - Secure Hard Drive Erasing Service
Data Recovery Service
If you're reading this page, then we know how you feel. You think you've probably lost everything...all the kids pictures, all of your personal documents, tax returns, wedding photos, music, Quickbooks files...everything. We've all been there at least once. Just because you can't get to your data doesn't mean it can't be recovered. In fact, regardless of the way the hard drive failed, most, if not all of your important data is still on the drive.
There are two primary types of disk failure: physical, and logical. The most common is the logical type. In a logical failure, a disk or other storage media has an inconsistent file system. Any number of things can cause an inconsistent file system. This can be caused by a critical operating system crash that caused the computer to restart unexpectedly; a sudden loss of power while the disk was being used; or even a virus infection. Logical failures can be fixed by a good computer technician. Some data may be lost at the location of the original disk failure, but the vast majority of the data is still recoverable.
Physical failures are more severe. These are disks that have failed parts inside of them, either mechanical or electronic. While all hard drives will eventually have physical failures if they are used long enough, we tend to outgrow our hard drives long before they will have a physical failure. Physical failures usually have to be repaired in a facility with a clean-room. In a clean-room, a hard drive can be opened in a dust-free environment so the bad parts can be replaced without introducing contaminants to the hard drive. The costs for data recovery in a clean-room can be quite expensive, so the lost data really has to be something worth paying a lot of money to retrieve.
Austin PC Solutions can help you get back your critical data. If the failure proves to be a logical disk failure, we will do the complete data recovery in our office and burn your data to DVD, CD, or copy it to another hard drive.
If the disk has failed for physical reasons, there are some cases where a clean-room is not needed, especially when there is a small amount of really important data to be retrieved from the drive. In those circumstances, Austin PC Solutions can save you hundreds of dollars in data recovery fees compared to a clean-room recovery center.
Call Austin PC Solutions for a FREE consultation. Bring in your desktop computer, laptop, external hard drive, or just the drive out of your computer. We will evaluate the drive and let you know if the failure is logical or physical. If we can't recover any data, you owe us NOTHING. If the failure will require a clean-room data recovery center, we can sub-contract the work or we will refer you to one of the fine clean-room centers here in town and let you deal with them directly. Coming to us first means you will only pay the expensive clean-room recovery prices when you have absolutely no other option, and only if you consider the data to be worth the price. If you take your drive to a clean-room center first, you'll always pay clean-room prices.

Call Austin PC Solutions at 512-573-3821 for FREE Data Recovery Consultation when you have any of these problems:
- Your computer is under warranty, the drive fails, and the computer company wants you to send the drive back to them for replacement. Bring the computer or drive to us first. Once you send off that drive, your data is gone forever.
- Your computer is so infected with viruses or spyware that you have no choice but to restore it to original factory condition. Don't restore it without retrieving your data. If you can't get your data, we can.
- If you are working with a technician at your computer company and they want to reformat your drive, but you still have important data on it. Don't format the drive. Call us for help.
- You accidentally delete important files and you can't get them back. Don't install anything and don't use the drive anymore. Don't even surf the web. Turn off the computer and call us!
- You format your drive and then remember there was data on it you needed. IT MAY NOT BE LOST! Don't install anything onto the drive. Call us first!
- Above all else, remember that when you format your drive or delete files, the actual files are not truly removed from the drive, the space they occupied is just allocated for new data to be written in its place. Any new software you install, any temporary files created by a program or Windows, and any web surfing or email checking you may do could write over the space your lost data previously occupied. The more you use the computer, the more likely your data will be lost forever. As soon as you realize you have lost some data, the best thing you can do is turn off the computer and consult with a computer technician to retrieve your lost information.
